At NYC Royal Carriage, we believe every guest deserves transparency when it comes to pricing. This comprehensive 2026 guide breaks down every cost, compares packages side by side, and shares insider tips so you can enjoy your ride without any surprises.

Central Park Carriage Ride Base Rates in 2026

The cost of a Central Park carriage ride is determined primarily by how long the tour lasts and the route it covers. Here is every regular tour and its price per carriage:

SIGNATURE TOUR45 minutes$164.991
SILVER TOUR55 minutes$194.992
ROYAL TOUR65 minutes$224.993
Rockefeller Royal Lights Ride65 minutes$224.991

Royal Park & City Grand Tour125 minutes$414.994
Royal Manhattan Evening Tour125 minutes$414.994

These prices are per carriage, not per person. Each carriage seats up to four adults, so a group of four splitting the 45-minute Signature Tour divides one $164.99 price four ways, about $41.25 each.

What Is Included in the Base Price?

When you book a standard carriage ride through Central Park, the following are typically included at no extra charge:

  • Professional, licensed carriage driver who doubles as a knowledgeable guide narrating the history of Central Park's 843 acres and its architecture.
  • Cozy lap blankets provided during cold weather.
  • Photo stops depend on the tour: Mini has none; Signature has one at Terrace Drive by Bethesda Terrace; Silver has two at Bethesda and Cherry Hill; Royal has three, adding Strawberry Fields; the 125-minute Grand tours have four. Evening routes have their own stop policy. All stops are included in the booked duration.
  • The route of your selected tour: ask about special requests before booking. Extra stops or a different itinerary are not automatically included.
  • Comfortable seating for up to 4 adults, or 3 adults with up to 2 children aged 12 and under.

The tour price does not include the driver's tip or optional extras such as champagne, chocolates, flowers, photography or video. The extras are add-ons, listed below.

Christmas Rides: 21 November to 9 January

Seasonal Demand: When Rides Book Out Fastest

At NYC Royal Carriage every tour has one published price that does not change with the season, but demand does. Our regular tours run 10 January through 20 November, and our Christmas rides run 21 November through 9 January; we are closed on 1 November. Understanding these seasonal patterns helps you get the time you want.

Peak Season (Busiest):

  • November through January (Holiday Season) — The most popular time for carriage rides, and the first to fill. Our regular tours pause from 21 November to 9 January, when our Christmas rides run instead, at the prices shown above.
  • February (Valentine's Day) — Evening times on February 14th are the first to book out.
  • October (Fall Foliage) — Central Park's autumn colors put carriage rides in extremely high demand.

Shoulder Season (Steady Demand):

  • March through May (Spring) — Cherry blossoms and warming weather bring steady demand.
  • September — Summer crowds thin out, but weather remains beautiful. Great value.

Off-Peak Season (Easiest to Book):

  • June through August (Summer) — Summer is a moderate-demand period because heat makes midday rides less appealing, so midday slots are usually the easiest to book, at the same published price as any other time.
  • Late January through early February — Once regular tours resume on 10 January, the lull before Valentine's Day offers the widest choice of times, at the same published price as any other date in our regular season.

What a Carriage Ride Costs Per Person

You pay one price for the carriage, so the cost per person depends on how many of you ride. Split evenly and rounded to the cent:

TourPer carriage2 riders3 riders4 riders
Mini Tour (25 min)$104.99$52.50$35.00$26.25
Signature Tour (45 min)$164.99$82.50$55.00$41.25
Silver Tour or Royal Midtown Lights Tour (55 min)$194.99$97.50$65.00$48.75
Royal, Rockefeller Royal Lights or Proposal Tour (65 min)$224.99$112.50$75.00$56.25
Grand tours (125 min)$414.99$207.50$138.33$103.75
Christmas rides (40 min)$240 or $320$120 or $160$80 or $106.67$60 or $80

Every carriage is private, so only your own group rides. With children 12 and under a carriage can seat 3 adults and up to 2 children, 2 adults and up to 4 children, or 1 adult and up to 6 children, at the same price per carriage.

Tipping Your Carriage Driver

Gratuity is not included in the tour price, and it is always optional. Our drivers typically receive 20% to 30%, the same guidance as in our terms and FAQ.

On the $164.99 Signature Tour, 20% is $33.00 and 30% is $49.50. When budgeting, add the tip to the tour and add-on total.

Groups, Add-Ons, and Tips for Best Value

Group Bookings: Each carriage seats up to 4 adults, so a larger party simply books more than one carriage, each at its published price. Contact us directly to arrange multiple carriages for a birthday party, corporate outing or family reunion.

Tours and Add-On Bundles at NYC Royal Carriage:

  • Signature Tour — 45 minutes, $164.99 per carriage. Add a champagne bottle ($65) or a chocolate box ($30), or both for $95.
  • Proposal Tour — 65 minutes, $224.99 per carriage, with a dozen red roses ($50), a Bluetooth speaker for your song ($55) and a photographer or videographer ($150 each) available as add-ons.
  • Silver Tour — 55 minutes, $194.99 per carriage, seating up to 4 adults or 3 adults with up to 2 children aged 12 and under, with two photo stops, at Bethesda Terrace and Cherry Hill.

Tips for Getting the Best Value:

  • Book in advance online — We are reservation-only, with no walk-ups, and booking closes 30 minutes before departure.
  • Choose weekdays over weekends — The price is the same every day, but weekday times are usually easier to book.
  • Ride during off-peak hours — Morning rides (10 AM to noon) and early afternoon rides are typically less in demand.
  • Add only the extras you want — every add-on is listed with its own price when you book, so you pay only for what you choose.
  • Split the cost — A carriage seats up to 4 adults. Inviting another couple cuts the per-person cost in half.

Is a Central Park Carriage Ride Worth the Cost?

This is the most important question, and the answer from our 5.0-star rating across 175 Google reviews is a resounding yes. A carriage ride delivers narrated history, stunning photo opportunities at Bow Bridge and Bethesda Terrace, the romance of a horse-drawn carriage, and the exclusivity of a private tour through 843 acres in the heart of Manhattan.

Payment Methods and Booking Policies

At NYC Royal Carriage you pay in full when you book online, by major credit card through Stripe or with PayPal, which also offers Venmo on phones. NYC Royal Carriage is reservation-only — there are no walk-ups — and every tour is sold at the same published price whenever you book, so reserving in advance guarantees your time and your carriage rather than a lower rate.

At NYC Royal Carriage, cancelling 24 hours or more before your ride is refunded in full, excluding transaction fees. Cancel 12 to 24 hours before and the refund is 50%; under 12 hours, and for no-shows, there is no refund. You can reschedule by phone up to 12 hours before your ride, and arriving more than 15 minutes late without contacting us forfeits both your refund and your right to reschedule. If we cancel for weather, you choose a full refund or free rescheduling. Rides go ahead in most conditions, including light rain, but we do not ride below 19°F or above an 87°F heat index — stricter than the New York City rule, which returns horses to the stable at 18°F and below or 90°F and above, to protect the welfare of the horses.

Frequently Asked Questions About Carriage Ride Pricing

How much does a Central Park carriage ride cost per person?

Central Park carriage rides are priced per carriage, not per person. At NYC Royal Carriage they run from $104.99 for the 25-minute Mini Tour to $414.99 for a 125-minute grand tour, and the 45-minute Signature Tour is $164.99. Each carriage seats up to four adults, so that one price is split between everyone riding.

Are tips included in the carriage ride price?

No, gratuity is not included in the tour price, and it is always optional. Our drivers typically receive 20% to 30% of the tour price.

Can I book a carriage ride at the park, or do I need a reservation?

NYC Royal Carriage is reservation-only: there are no walk-ups at our stand, and booking closes 30 minutes before departure. Every tour is sold at the same published price whether you book weeks ahead or the same morning, so booking online does not cost less — it guarantees your time and your carriage.

Do Central Park carriage ride prices change by season?

Not at NYC Royal Carriage: each tour has one published price that never changes with the season or the day of the week. Demand does change — the holiday period, Valentine's Day and peak fall foliage fill first, while late January, mid-summer middays and early March offer the widest choice of times. Our regular tours run 10 January through 20 November; from 21 November through 9 January our three 40-minute Christmas rides run instead, at $240 or $320 per carriage.

What is the cheapest way to take a carriage ride in Central Park?

The most affordable option is our 25-minute Mini Tour at $104.99 per carriage — our standard rate. Eligible promotions may reduce the total; your selected date and any applicable offer are shown before payment. To share the cost, travel with up to three friends: one carriage seats up to four adults at that single price.
