Bethesda Terrace and Fountain

Bethesda Terrace is one of Central Park's most iconic landmarks, featuring the Angel of the Waters fountain designed by Emma Stebbins in 1868. The ornate Minton tile ceiling of the arcade beneath the terrace is considered one of the finest examples of decorative art in the park. Bow Bridge

Strawberry Fields — John Lennon Memorial

Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre landscaped area dedicated to the memory of John Lennon, located near the Dakota apartment building where he lived and was tragically shot in 1980. The centerpiece is the black-and-white mosaic tile reading "Imagine," donated by the city of Naples, Italy. Visitors from around the world leave flowers and tributes here daily.

The Mall and Literary Walk

The Mall is the only straight pathway in Central Park, a quarter-mile promenade lined with American elm trees forming one of the largest remaining stands of this species in North America. The Literary Walk at the southern end features statues of William Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and other literary figures.

Cherry Hill Fountain

Cherry Hill was originally designed as a turnaround area for carriages and features an ornamental fountain that once served as a watering trough for horses. In spring, the surrounding cherry trees burst into bloom, creating a breathtaking canopy of pink blossoms — one of the most photographed spots in the park.
